Adventures in Bat Country

My next deadline is next month so I have a bit of time to play. Writers don't let themselves play enough I think.

What do I mean by play? Sometimes writers need to use their gifts to write something without caring about where they will sale it.

I started feeling sad that my Mystical Rome game was over so I wrote this start to a story.

Type of scene: Nathan and Eve are hanging around Portland ala A Whole New World from Aladdin.
Challenge(s): This is part of the basic romance subplot. This is somewhat of a challenge and this is the last little bit of sunshine before all hell breaks loose. After this scene, the book goes really dark for a couple of chapters.

There is also a little bit of a time jump between chapters and I wanted to account the time without looking like a tool

Challenge(s): Getting the information out there, making it interesting, and setting up the main battles at the end of the book. The irony is that all of the characters are battling for their soul trying to improve their condition somehow.

After a bit of a stall and some cutting, the novel is returning to a good form and the words are coming in at a good pace. I finished Chapter Four: We Laugh Like Soft, Mad Children

Challenge(s): Revealing only bits of a character's plan so as not to bore the reader, but still make it seems like there was a solid plan by the characters
Researched: different versions of the Crying Lady story and considering what their meanings might mean.

This is a story that has been gestiating for a long time.

I based a little of the story based on a friend that has had a hard road, but always managed to get back up again.

This story is an experiment for me since it involves second person POV and the main character suffers from synesthesia.

This is my weekly WIP super-hero story. I am having so much fun that I've been giddy.

This anthology is about a Dystopian Super Hero future. And then I realized that the main problem with these kinds of stories is that the super-heroes go back in time, come back from the dead, or resets the universe somehow. I invented the Einstein Rosen Karmic Compensator Effect to avoid all of that. Techno babble for the win!!!
