Adventures in Bat Country

I am dog tired.

I hard wrote fiction for six hours. It is very draining. I edited and I worked on several projects due next week. I felt very much like a writer.

I tried to buy a new battery for my computer. $100. I could buy a new laptop for $300.

I got a bit sunburn from writing in the library.

I am still enjoying the Camarilla. I feel like there is a group of players that need to take a break and remember that it is supposed to be fun. We build our characters with ideals so that there can be conflict. Conflict is story. When you put on your big boy pants and kill characters, you can't complain about the drama you get ICly afterwards. If you associate with PC killers, you should suffer ICly. I certainly can't complain of the backlash Ulric gets as a result of Vitreous.

All of my friends are busy tonight. There are no games. I really want fellowship and hanging out time!!!!

I'm working hard to catch up on needed writing submissions for the various anthologies out there.

I had my Mystical Rome game last night. All I can say about the game was this quote:

I kind of want to try a fantasy mystery game. Create a world and not tell the players where they are. Let then figure out everything. I'm seriously considering it.

I am a bit worried about my truck. I hope it is a quick fix.

My wife really wants to go to the Camarilla Vancouver Ball tonight.

I'd rather stay home and write.

I admit that's not as entertaining for her as it is for me.

Writing is more fun for me than playing pretending vampire games, but it is a lot less social. That was one of the reasons that I rejoined.

The negative side is that there is the usual OOC shadow politics over IC politics. That sort of thing is always there in any large club or organization. I see it in some of the writing guilds I am in. The key is just waiting. Bad officers or troublemakers eventually burn themselves out and end up on the other end of the stick.

As for myself, if I am going to put in my valuable time into a game, I want it to tingle. I want there to be excitement and drama. I have no interest in sitting in the corner. I have no interest in playing at a whisper.

I'm sure soon the wheel will turn and I'll have an interest in playing again.

I have enough plot and fun for an either horrible game. Or something fun.

This weekend has been filled to the brim with gaming. I enjoyed myself, but I find that I am very tired.

I really enjoy the new WOD LARP system. It makes combats go by very quickly. Rob, Clay, insatia, and I ran through a mass combat that was finished very quickly on the ferry ride. I think the whole thing took 15 minutes and that was with the four of us constantly looking things up. The key seems to be pack tactics.

Last night was the Dark Reign game. I was glad to see the storytellers step up to the plate. I saw them taking steps to make the game fun. I feel like it is in good hands. Sadly, my plan to screw over Rob's character was foiled by chance, but it would have mighty funny to see old Doc Holiday try to shoot someone with pistols that just won't cooperate.

Today is lazy day. Although I had several plot bunnies for insatia special toy game. I think I figure out how to make it awesome. Now we just need to make it happen.

I feel fairly drained.

Afterwards, I went to Carkeek park. I walked around, took pictures, and then wrote for a while.

Then, I went to the Dark Reign game. It was a slow game, but the PvP picked things up. Clay and I have a good IC fight going on. His caitiff thugged by wizard assamite. Round 1 goes to Clay. The future looks bloody. I imagine us playing spy versus spy for a while.

I drove back to pick up insatia and then we went to afters to say good-bye to feuxbos and Erika. It was a nice good-bye.

And now, insatia and Clay are rewatching the Gamers. I'm getting ready to sign off since I have a ton of work tomorrow.

Last night was the first of our Friday Night Serials game. The idea is to have a variety of different games on a regular basis. Weyland Mccready: Honor bound Cop

Weyland Mccready wanted to escape the poverty and the crime of his neighborhood. While the rest of his family joined the Irish mafia, he went to school and eventually the police academy. What he didn't realize was that the cops were just as corrupt as the gangs. Some of them were heavily involved in the underworld.

During a drug bust gone wrong, the vice squad robbed the Jamaican mob. When the dirty cops realized that there were witnesses, they started cleaning up the evidence. Mccready was willing to let the gangs kill each other, but not children or innocent bystanders. To stop the vice squad, he ended up shooting one of them and spend five years in hard prison for his trouble.

Now he lives on his mother’s couch and is stuck back in the neighborhood. No one wants to hire a felon and he really only has one set of job skills. Can he keep his cousin in check long enough to make some cash?

The game was very fun. I was a bit skeptical as I’ve never seen a crime game done well. Clay did an excellent job. Rob played my psychopathic cousin Blondie who lives in cargo container. Jim played a kung-fu Indian that has just returned disillusioned from Vietnam. It sounds weird, but it fit with the blaxploitation feel of the game.

We used the New World of Darkness Mortals system. The combats were easy and quick. Very impressive. I look forward to the next five games.

Tonight was the good-bye game for feuxbos. It was a fun way to say good-bue to a friend that is moving to another state.

insatia picked out her pony today.

She is now using real human hair dye to change the color of the pony hair.

She is very excited.
