Every seven years, the Queen of the Fairies must tithe a worthy soul unto Hell.

In the year of 1816, the year without a summer, the greatest poets and thinkers have settled into the Villa Diodati hosted by the legendary Lord Byron.

Can the Queen of Fairies find her tithe amongst the lost at the end of the world?

The greatest monsters are those born from the imagination.

The devil will have his due.

I am big fan of Torchwood and the New Doctor Who series.

I was very disappointed that Torchwood series 3 was only a limited series. That said, I really enjoyed Children of the Earth.

[livejournal.com profile] insatia sent me a link to a wonderful essay about fandom and Doctor Who. I highly recommend it.

I wrote a Doctor Who fan fiction story. Well, I wrote it for an anthology that lost the license and then released it as fan fiction. You can see it here: http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=30697

Free On-line Novel:

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making: http://www.catherynnemvalente.com/fairyland/

This is an interesting experiment. The one thing that television can do better than a set novel is the concept of a serialized fiction. Every week you get to find out a little bit about your favorite characters. This is a good way of matching that special addiction. I wonder if it will work.

The natural thing to do when finishing a project is to get lazy. Also, there is the dreaded post-partum depression. Freelance writing has the possibility of getting the blues. And you are your own boss. You are the one responsible for your fate.

A number of you have encouraged me. Thank you! It helps. Encouraging words lift the spirit. Every small act of kindness invigorates me.

I've made a list of short projects to complete by Friday.

1. Submit an entry for the Shine anthology. You can read about it here: http://shineanthology.wordpress.com/category/guidelines/

This story has been really hard. I wanted to drop it because I felt it was making other people's pain tacky. But I think I can make it work. You guys pushed me on that one. Now, I'm just working hard to capture the voice of the project.

2. Submit a story for the anthology Shadows of the Emerald City. I checked out the publisher and it seems decent enough, but small press. The rule for a freelance is go for the big fish first, and then hit the projects you love. I have an awesome idea for this one. It involves Winged Monkeys.

3. Start research for submission to the Dragon's Lures anthology. I have a book coming in via the library that will spark enough ideas and help with the China geography. This might not get done until next week sadly.
