Dreams in a Dragon's House Query Letter

I finished my last edit of Dreams in a Dragon's House.
And, I think I discovered something I had forgotten. A joy of writing. A love of putting words down on paper. Sometimes, you look so much at the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey.
This is my first draft of the query letter. If anyone with experience has any feedback, I’d appreciate it.
Dear Agent/Editor
Thirteen-year old Abigail Harrington imagined that going to a new school would be really tough, but that was before she was given the responsibility of raising a baby dragon.
DREAMS IN A DRAGON’S HOUSE is an urban fantasy novel complete at 73,000 words and is the first novel in a proposed new series, titled DRAGON’S HEIR. DRAGON’S HEIR has the tone of an Urban Fantasy Adventure crossed with ANNE OF GREEN GABLES. Dragon hatchlings mature at a very slow rate, and when Abigail becomes responsible for Chthon, it is a life long commitment. The plan for the series is to follow Abigail’s life from her early teens to her twilight years when Chthon can finally leave the nest.
After the Harrington family moves to modern day Seattle, Abigail strikes up an unlikely friendship with a mysterious, elderly neighbor named Mrs. Aithne. She discovers Mrs. Aithne’s secret after being rescued from the attention of a local bully named Trunk.
Mrs. Aithne is a dying dragon and she has chosen Abigail to take care of her hatchling when she has passed on. Abigail is shocked, but decides to accept the responsibility after Mrs. Aithne explains that she won’t be dying anytime soon and will have time to train her. Abigail becomes Mrs. Aithne’s apprentice and learns magic. She makes friends with Teddy Rector, a genius, and Clara Chung, a girl that can communicate with ghosts and is for the first time happy.
The dark wizard, Nixx Ignatius, that poisoned Mrs. Aithne returns for the hatchling, but is defeated by Mrs. Aithne in a psychic battle on Halloween that leaves both of them seemingly destroyed. Abigail is left to raise the now awakened hatchling. Assisted by a gnome named Garnet, she names the hatchling Chthon and tries to live her life without her friend.
Trunk and Abigail’s brother Bill begin to act strangely. When Chthon becomes ill, Abigail discovers that the wizard that killed Mrs. Aithne is still alive, but is possessing her brother. Abigail and her friends must locate the components of the legendary Elixir of Tears to heal Chthon and then face the dark wizard Nixx Ignatius.
My short fiction appears in the anthologies Cthulhu Frontier, Arkham Tales: Stories of the Legend Haunted City and Triquorum Two.
