I knew I was feeling sick last night.

I got home way late from work and then just hunkered down on the coach. I watched four episodes of Criminal Minds in a row. I am really enjoying the show. However, if they put Doctor Reid in danger again, they might as well put him in a pink dress and have a villain with a twirling mustache tie him to the train tracks. It is almost silly.

I threw up this morning, still effected from the stomach flu so I called in sick. I don't like doing that when contracting since it means not getting paid, but I suspect that vomiting on my boss might lower my performance review.

I spent the morning on the couch reading stories from the Best of Michael Moorecock. I enjoy his style and the way with words. I'll write a review later.

And then [livejournal.com profile] insatia and I watched disk two of the Kings series. I love this show. I wish it would have lasted longer.

That would be the Gentleman in Distress character type. It's relatively modern, but some people write it well. (Others, not so much.) You should just see what [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar can do with that one. I've used it a few times myself, even including some of my fishbowl poems.

I'm not against the trope, but there are like 10 characters on the show and out of 8 episodes I've seen, he has been the hostage 5 times. :)

I love the show, especially the quotes in the beginning and the end. And the regular denouncement in the airplane.

Well, yeah, if they were to spread the doom around more evenly, then the trope wouldn't apply. People used to gripe about the Damsel in Distress because she got into trouble all out of proportion to the number of characters and trouble available. The GiD is merely a reversal of that trope, and some people think it's cute, or just hilariously just desserts. It can be overdone, or just done badly. I haven't seen the version you're watching.

I normally don't enjoy procedurals.

I normally don't enjoy ... well, most mundane television, actually. I think the only cop/legal show I ever watched intensely was Reasonable Doubts, in which one of the main characters was Deaf (and female, and Jewish, and smart). For the chance to soak up another language, I'll watch darn near anything.

Bwahahahahah...yes. The fandom is quite divided on this. Half loves it, half hates it. I'm in the hate camp myself.

I do really like the characters and I am told he is the newest/youngest officer so that makes a little sense.

I dunno. Going into the sixth season and you'd think they might be able to come up with something else. It was interesting and subversive for two and a half seasons or so, but now? I'm ready to see Morgan get rescued for a change.
