Updates from A Very Tired Monkey
Apr. 25th, 2011 05:56 pmToday is my birthday. I was allowed to work from home and listen to music. It was very nice. :)
When I was finished, I wrote about 400 words on a new Heller Mystery story titled "A Simple Job" and I realized I need to think about how I feel about ghosts before contining.
I started brainstorming about a fantasy story featuring magic. This is for a fairly well known anthology series. Last year, I submitted an entry that I thought was good and was eventually bought by another solid series. I have been doing quite a bit of reading about the Witch of Endor and that story in the bible. Today I started a story titled "The Second Seance of the Witch of Endor" and with any luck this story will spark.
Sometimes, I start a story and it doesn't spark with what I feel that day and I try it again later.
I looked through my drafts folder and found an interest start titled ""A Pyre for a Jarl" about the funeral of a Viking King and the Thrall Girl as described in the journals of historical explorer Ahmad in Fadlan.
I also finally found the fragment of "Murder on the Feng Shui Express" and I really liked where that story was going. I lost it when the file corrupted last year, but my new laptop was able to fix it. Losing bits of a story is sometimes too hard to rebuild.
I am still doing research for the Future Lovecraft story. I think I have a solid idea with good science, which is always fun. I'm just doing a bit of world building before starting to write.
Work on the Highway West is closing fast. I finished out one person's comments and I should be getting the rest by 5/7. I think I'll have any story holes closed by then. I think I have fixed my two weak spots. After this pass, I'll start working on the copyediting and really digging into the words. I think I am in good shape, but I want everything to shine before sending it off into the world.
