I had to add it to the outline. Chapter 12 is the end of the action. Chapter 14 starts up the next quest.
Here is a raw WIP from the end of the chapter.
Pip sighed. “It must be a wonderful thing to have a mother and father.”
“A family’s what gets you through the day,” Travis said. He hugged his son and then flipped him over and gave him a solid boogie. “The Lost Boys are still my family. An occasionally gross and stanky family, but there it is.”
Knox beltched loudly in agreement. The others laughed, except Spoken. “What happens when we’re gone?”
“I think you’re going to be around for a while, Spoken. Don’t worry so much or you’ll grow up.”
Spoken wearily shook his head. Dylan realized for the first time that he had bags under his eyes. “We’re the last of the Lost Boys. What happens if we’re gone? What happens then?”
Travis finally understood. He shrugged helplessly. “I don’t rightly know. I imagine that eventually there’d be other Lost Boys and the fairies would take care of them. I believe that there are currents in the dreamlands that form stories. I think those currents encourage patterns in us. Like with the Lost Boys. When there’s a need, there’ll be Lost Boys.”
“And with Peter Pan still around, kids are going know about the Lost Boys for a long time,” Dylan added.
Spoken removed his glasses to clean them. “I feel aces now. I had been worried that if Red-Handed Jack killed us that would it for the Lost Boys.”
Travis grinned boyishly and leaned close to the boys and whispered. “And I’ll tell you guys a secret about Red-Handed Jack that’ll guarantee victory.” They all scooted closer and the small part of Travis that was still Trouble whispered a pirate’s secret.
