I have a bit of the writing blahs.

"Bat Country" came out like a ninja, killing everything in it's path.

And now, I'm uncertain of what I wish to start next. I tried a couple of different starts for "Chorus of the Chosen" but I can't seem to find an opening that will properly grabs the reader by the gonads. I have the rest of the story mapped out.

Likewise, I’m having trouble with the opening of “Apprentice of the Mask.” Lisa hates the title, but that’s just because she is in love with the tv show the Apprentice. I’m considering my options here.

I also have the café idea that Lisa hates. I might write it out just to get it out.

When I don’t get things on paper, I feel spiritually constipated.

A new idea

I was watching the country music channel and there was a song about a man being proud that he died for his country and made it to Arlington National Cemetary. That got me thinking of a story seed for you.

A soldier from the Iraq War is buried there and his ghost encounters the ghosts of the soldiers of all the other wars that have been buried there and he has to come to grips with the honor of it all as well as the responsibility. You could go straight with it and they have become the spirit of honor of the country or something or go horror with it and they are a new army to fight some spiritual war. Several ending ideas. You could look at what each war's generation considers of honor and duty and death. Do the ones from wars lost or the Indian wars feel the same as the WWII vets?

It's something to consider....although I'd have to work at it to make it different.

I did not know until his funeral on the news that Hunter S. Thompson was a real person. Like I told you, I haven't seen F&L in Las Vegas so I have no idea if there is any connection there.
