Almost Famous

Have you ever had a movie that automatically picked you up and made you feel right in the world?

My movie is Almost Famous.

I watch that movie and I feel better about being a writer. I feel like the hard work and the effort is worth it. This is a movie that can make my eyes tear.

And then, I almost always write like a freaking fiend. I was listening to it while cleaning the house.

I wrote a thousand words on Fear and Loathing in Innsmouth: The Revenge of Richard Nixon.

I even did a solid outline for my white whale of a novel titled the Highway West. You might notice that this livejournal is named after that mythical novel. I wrote one draft in college that sucked ass. I tried another draft two years ago and moved much closer to that vision.

It hit me like a lightning bolt. I'm letting it gestate while I pound out a draft for Dylan and the Dream Pirates.
