Tonight, I was really surprised by the writing. I added 1,800 more words or so.

I finished a very nasty fight. The first real one in the book. It involved a side character that I didn't expect to die. I wanted it to be brutal to show Dylan that not everything is like the movies and fights are nasty. I think it worked.

And a character I didn't expect to die expired tonight.

I went over the outline a bit. I've added a couple of chapters. I might have to change up the titles a bit.

Chapter Eight has been the hardest to get to because the characters kept wanting to do other stuff first. The next chapter is the big turning point. The whole reason to write the novel and I am very excited.

I've discovered that if I try for the vomit draft first, I get out a lot of keen ideas. I love language and so sometimes I get stuck finding the right word for the right moment, but if I do that then the flow dies.

I think vomit draft and then rewriting seems like the best way for me.

Here's the current TOC:

DYLAN AND THE DREAM PIRATES

CHAPTER ONE: THE PROBLEMS WITH PIRATES
CHAPTER TWO: THE LOST BOYS
CHAPTER THREE: THIN SPOTS BETWEEN THE WORLDS
CHAPTER FOUR: THE LADY OF THE TEMPEST
CHAPTER FIVE: THE SECRET OF GRIMALKIN FORTUNATO
CHAPTER SIX: MUTANY ON THE TEMPEST
CHAPTER SEVEN: THE WORTHY
CHAPTER EIGHT: THE TOWER OF BONE
CHAPTER NINE: REQUIEM IN THE HOUSE OF LOGOS
CHAPTER TEN: THE VIRTUES OF NINJAS VERSUS PIRATES
CHAPTER ELEVEN: SHOOTING FLAMINGOS
CHAPTER TWELVE: TALL SAILS, TALLER TALES
CHAPTER THIRTEEN: MAELSTROM OF FOREVER
CHAPTER FOURTEEN: THE RIDERS OF THE STORM
CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE LAW OF THE DREAMSEA
CHAPTER SIXTEEN: FATHERS AND SONS
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT
