[livejournal.com profile] insatia and I have been watching the Two Doctors DVD. The story is really slow and well boring. I'm not feeling the Sixth Doctor. I do like the Second Doctor. We stopped watching because we were bored. Maybe the next series will be more interesting.

There's been a lot of discussion about fanfiction lately.

A Star Trek fan film "Worlds Enough and Time" is on the ballot for the Nebula, which is the award that the SWFA gives out. There's a great deal of controversy about it. Granted, it looks like it is a better film that most of the Trek from the last ten years.

Fanfiction even has a group trying to get the laws changed. Check Out: http://transformativeworks.org/ and http://writ.corporate.findlaw.com/hilden/20080121.html

Oddly, Steven Burst, a famous professional writer, has released a fanfiction novel. http://dreamcafe.com/firefly.html

I wonder how that is going to work for him. I've read that several writers I respect occasionally indulge in fanfiction.

I'm not anti-fanfiction, but I've always thought that you had to concentrate on the prize, but I can see the benefits. Fanfiction gets released to a hungry audience and new writers are often starving for feedback.

I'm considering making fanfiction a reward for hiting milestones. I have three solid ideas burning in my head for a couple of different fandoms and one has been rejected.

My wife has cracked the whip to remind me to get back to writing. Signing off....
