I gave the test copies of Abigail's Dragon to [livejournal.com profile] fetishnun. She has a daughter of the correct age and said daughter also has friends of the correct age.

I had a couple more decent ideas for Dylan and the Dream Pirates. I wanted to write yesterday, but I had to work the parade. I think it somewhat ruined my entire day. I think I was a bit grouchy after that.

However, I have decided that my next novel will be an adult dark fantasy/horror. Fear and Loathing in Innsmouth: Richard Nixon's Revenge might end up being my next novel. It was going to be a novella, but i keep coming up with additional ideas.

I'm almost finished with Chapter One: The Problem with Pirates. I kind of surprised myself by how I put various bits of information in there. The story is surprising me as well.

To begin with, the story feels a bit darker.

And now, I'm messing with the language. I'm trying to figure out a better word to use for cool. I know that's likely what an 11 year old would likely use, but it doesn't feel right. I'm trying to work out a private slang language between the father and the son.

I really like the dynamic of the father and son. I'm reminded a bit of Something Wicked This Way Comes.
