Apr. 5th, 2007 03:00 pmI decided to take
jaylake's advice and focus on writing a single story a week.
Last week, I finished “Rendezvous on 22 Mountain” and this week I finished “Bank Robbery” for the Machine of Death anthology. I have a pretty good track record for writing for a market, but if I write a story and just submit it, I miss the mark. When I am done with my single story, I return to larger projects.
I’m working on “Elixir of Tears” for the Sword & Sorceress 22 anthology. I started this a long time ago, but I wasn’t quite sure of where I wanted to go with it, but now I know that the protagonist is Devon the Yeoman onboard a mystical pirate ship searching for the great treasure of all. I’ve done a bit of reading about girls pretending to be boys on ships back in the day. This should be awesome.
I am half way through the last book I need to read to finish up Fear and Loathing in Innsmouth: Richard Nixon’s Revenge. I’m thinking this novella will tip 30,000 words.
I still need another research trip to the UW library to research a couple of Romantic Poets.
I shipped off my two favorite orphan stories in search of a home.
I am planning on going to Norwestcon this Saturday. That’s pretty much when all of the panels I want to be on will be there. I’m hoping to meet a bunch of the other writers and other publishing people.
