Writing Update
Mar. 20th, 2007 09:05 amI sent off Abigail’s Dragon to the first test reader. This draft had a lot of changes in it from my first draft that it is almost a completely new book. I’d like to catch people that didn’t read the first draft.
Lisa likes to read things by paper so I’m having a printed copy made for her. It is actually cheaper to use Lulu than Kinkos. That’s just crazy.
I’d like to have two more test readers. If anyone in LJ land is interested in reading a YA Fantasy story about a thirteen year old girl that has to take care of a baby dragon, please drop me a line.
Afterwards, I’m going to do a final line polish and then send it off into the submission ether and work on something new.
I’m doing research for my next novel titled The Doom That Fell Upon the Villa Diodati. This novel is a magical retelling of the “Year Without Summer” in 1815 when Lord Byron, Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, and a couple others spent a summer in Switzerland telling each other ghost stories and in the end Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein. Of course, in my novel, they actually come across a real ghost story.
I have a vague outline of the historical events I want to cover mixed in with the supernatural. If I managed it correctly, it should be an interesting erotic supernatural mystery.
I’m reading about Mary Shelly’s life. I need to refresh myself about the historical period as it has been ten years since I covered it in school because I am very old. I’m also research the period so I can get the little details right.
