I worked on outlining for Sympathetic Magic. It did not go well. I think maybe that idea isn't ready. I have the brief idea, it feels too much like the old school forumla. I'm going to be brainstorming for a few days. I think this idea works the best, but I might have to let it gestate for a while.

I did end up coming up with more ideas for New Gods of the Lost Children and for a Jacob Heller mystery. On one hand, I think I came up with a way to do New Gods with only one main POV character. If I go this route, this novel suddenly becomes a lot more saleable and less confusing. I think it loses a bit of the terror this way, but I think the idea is solid enough that it could work.

On the other hand, I may have come up with a solid occult mystery that I enjoyed. I've never written a mystery before. That has appeal and is also a little bit scary.

The best part about the outlining stage is that I can jump from project to project at whim until I settle and start writing.

I've been working on notes for various novel prospects. It is interesting. I love the brainstorming process. It is like sailing on a sea of what-if.

There's an article circling about describing successful people. I mention it because I think it matches with something I've always believed. Talent doesn't help you anywhere near as much as raw naked ambition. I think that might not apply to certain sports, but to everything else. I feel bad because I'm only a year into the proposed ten year requirement to master any one skill.

I need to keep my head down and focus.
