WIP Meme
I normally hate these, but this one looked like fun.
"Turn to page 123 in your work-in-progress. (If you haven't gotten to page 123 yet, then turn to page 23. If you haven't gotten there yet, then get busy and write page 23.) Count down four sentences and then instead of just the fifth sentence, give us the whole paragraph."

“One question. What does ‘alea iacta est’ mean? The doll said that before I. . .before it died.”
Mrs. Aithne scowled. “It is a Latin phrase attributed to Julius Ceaser. He fought a long war in Gaul away from Rome. The Senate was jealous of his power and declared him a traitor to the state. He marched on Rome with his army. It was illegal for him to cross the Rubicon River with an army. When he crossed, he said that. Alea iacta est. It means the die is cast.”
“What does that mean?” Clara asked.
“It means that Nixx Ignatius has declared war.”

He stopped confused at an intersection. The limned dome was visible behind him, looming over his right shoulder, but that wasn't much help. He had no idea how large the town was. The wall had seemed so high from outside, but inside the city he couldn't spot it.
