Fan-Fiction: Doctor Who

Somehow a friend of mine was under the impression that I hated fan-fiction.

Quite the opposite. I think it can be fun and brilliant and a wonderful way express your love of a piece of work. Media Work aka Commercial Tie-ins are very much a professional form of fan-fiction.

I was dared to show a piece of my fan-fiction and so here and now I present my Doctor Who story that I came up with when I thought there was going to be an anthology for which I could submit it. The anthology never happened, but I felt a burning need to tell this story.

I imagine that is how most fan-fiction starts. http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=30697

Woah! I've read this story! Either you've posted it before on LJ or I stumbled across it on Teaspoon and didn't realize you were the author. I don't typically like fanfiction, but lately I can't seem to get enough Doctor Who fics. Great story!

Thank you!

I might have posted it here, but I think it sounds more awesome if you have found it by accident. ;)

I'm leaning towards finding it randomly. Usually, when I find an author I like I'll read through his or her favorite stories and authors. Sometimes I'll just pick a Doctor (usually 9 or 10 because they're what I know best) and a page at random then choose a story that looks good. I know it's a good story when I can finish it. I can't tolerate OOC and I'll shut a fic down even if I'm several chapters in if the characters are doing things they wouldn't really do (in my head anyway).

I not only finished your story, but I remember it well. I really need to set myself up an account so I can keep track of my favorites. Yours would be listed.

Thank you very much.

I often use fan fiction as either a reward or a writing exercise when I have no projects.

My next reward is a story about 10 and Jane Austen. ;)
