Writers on the Web
I came across this community.
http://community.livejournal.com/ae_stories/friends
Which lead me to examine this website http://www.talesofmu.com/
I am completely facinated by this.
This writer is working in serialized fiction much like Charles Dickens. Her fans are actively supporting her.
I think eventually this might be the way fiction is sent out into the world. You subscribe to the writers you want to read. You pay them directly.

It's something people can do as a hobby, however appart from a few rare people, it's not going to be a way to make a living--and I think that's what a lot of writers want to do.
To be honest, I think books are like movies. A whole crew is needed to make a good one. Otherwise you tend to end up with that homemade porn look. :P
