Washington State Caucus

Washington state has a primary and a caucus. Unfortunately, the democratic party does not use the votes in the primary to determine a states delegate count. The republican party uses the primary votes to determine 48% of their delegates. They both use the caucus system.

Your local caucus is February 9th, 2008. Whether you're a democrat or a republican you should get involved. The races are close in both parties. If you have no clue where to go to participate you can look it up on-line.

Thoughts on Writing

I've been working on writing two novels at the same time. It has been an interesting experiment.

One of my greatest roadblock is that sometimes I get stuck. I've always seemed to be a short burst writer. I'd write a couple thousand words and then get blocked until the next day.

I used to just write short stories after I got blocked.

However, I have been switching off. I think my brain likes this better. I got the idea from my lovely wife [Bad username or unknown identity: “insatia”] and a creative writing book from college Creating Short Fiction by Damon Knight.

My muse certainly loves this approach. In honor of Creating Short Fiction by Damon Knight, I’ve decided to name my muse Rick James.

Thoughts about Current Projects

Heh!

I'm a livejournal machine today, but it helps me with the writing process. And I can search for old thoughts or plans.

I realized today that Dylan and the Dream Pirates is about putting away childish things and why eventually you have to grow up or you hurt yourself.

I realized that I needed one more character for Until the Stars Grow Cold. The big bad is plenty terrifying as an antagonist, but I realized that something was missing. And then I realized that I needed a bad boy rival for the daring Mia Wells. I have the image in my mind and solid lock on the character, now I just need a name. I ruled out the first name because I think there needs to be a moratorium on swashbuckling characters with the name Jack. ;)
