Hmmm...it looks like my idea isn't quite right for the Blackness Within anthology. The setting is supposed to be contemporary. I was thinking modern, which is why the WWI era appealed to me.

I wonder if I could figure out how to do a proper crossover.

I really dig the idea. Either way, it will be used.

I know it is rude to paint with other people's brushes, or words, in this case, but I would proceed with this thought.

Interweave a contemporary storyline with the WWI idea. The descendant of so and so finds a diary chronicling this secret event in WWI. And in the contemporary character has to deal with some fall out from that event.

Unless, there is something in the guidelines that makes this unworkable, of course.

That might be what I end up doing. I am discussing with the editor.

Or I might come up with a story in modern time set in Portland.
