By now, everyone in LJ has heard about Congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio proposing articles of impeachment against President Bush on the House floor.

The next step is a vote. If you support this, you should contact your congressman and let your voice be heard.

This is considered unwise politically because of the upcoming presidental election. I think that the will of the people is there if we push our elected representives.

I have already contacted my hosue rep, and I will be calling his office tomorrow to express my feelings.

Unfortunately Dennis Kucinich is a leper in the House. I've seen him call for various impeachments several times to crickets.

Impeachment doesn't mean anyone did anything wrong. It means they have to answer questions to determine if they did. It is written in the Constitution as a protective device for the government to insure the balance of power and stop corruption. Unfortunately Nancy Pelosi is more concerned with her approval rating (Congress's approval rating is lower than the President's if you can believe that) than she is with protecting the balance of power. If only Bush had lied about a blow job! Personally I hope she is not re-elected.

It doesn't help that none of the major candidates were willing to go on record as demanding an impeachment. Personally I believe if Obama came out in favor of it he would get a huge spike in popularity.

I suspect that Dennis Kucinich might be the snowflake that turns into a major snowball. I've already gotten a response from my congressman.
