I've come to the conclusion too late that "the Elixir of Tears" does not work with the current world building.

I threw too much in.

I'm bagging that story for now. Too late for the anthology I wanted to submit it to, but maybe the seed will be useful later.

Not every story works and sometimes you have to cut your loses.
