I have rediscovered something important that I knew with all my black little heart when I was sixteen.
Music makes the world. I have rekindled my love of the classic rock. I've started using Spotify to create music lists for various projects.
This month, I started writing my next novel titled "A Wicked Messenger" and I've created a number of different lists for the various characters. It helps me dive into the POV of the characters almost like a shaman slipping into a trance.
How did I forget this? Music can change your mood almost instantly in a way that so few artforms can.
I've been listening to dozens of versions of "House of the Rising Sun" and amazed at the different ways artists can sing the same song. This song has been a folk song for maybe more than a hundred years. Amazing how such a simple song can envoke such an emotional connection.
