A Day in Which I Wait....

If I am correct, the print version of the draft of Dylan and the Dream Pirates will arrive today. insatia is usually my first reader.

I think she was a little disappointed that I sent out electronic versions to others before she received her print version. Alas, she does her best work with a printed version and it was cheaper to use a service to print it out.

I've been concentrating on writing my next novel while awaiting feedback. Working on a voice for this novel is really hard. I want to capture the feel of 19th century writing while making it a bit easier to read. I'll have to see how this works.

New Short Fiction Projects

This morning, I started two new short fiction projects.

The first is a Jonathan Heller Mystery submission for the Dragon's Lure anthology.

The working title is "Murder on the Feng Shui Express" but that will likely change in the future. The story revolves around a murder on the railroads, the Boxer Revolution in China, and a very angry dragon. I dig the premise, but I know I'll need to change the title. Working on the outline and reading the research.

The second is titled "the Elixir of Tears” for the Skulls and Crossbones anthology about women pirates. I really like how the beginning of this piece is turning out. Alas, I have to research proper historical cross-dressing methods. I don't suppose any one here can point me to a good starter website? The character in question is a young woman pretending to be a boy if that helps.
