Today I had all day and I feel liked I sucked.

I did 500 words of “The Strange Shell Game of the Undead Alchemist."

I did 2000 words for “Apprentice of the Mask." I also did a lot of ancient Rome research.

I started editing "Mathematics of the Chosen."

I got a rejection letter today. I shouldn't let it bug me, but I do. I want more of my stuff published, darn it. :) Keep plugging away.

Today was better.

Edited "Mathematics of the Chosen"

Wrote another 2k on "Apprentice of the Mask"

Wrote another 500 words on “The Strange Shell Game of the Undead Alchemist."

I mapped out the end of "The Pit Stop War"

I prepared and packaged "Abigail's Dragon for submission."

Wow. I just got back a rejection letter that really stings. Most of them have been of the "this is good, but not for us variety." This one was a little more blunt. I think the reason it stings so much is that this is a story I really feel good about.

I'll revisit the story tomorrow and see if the rejection letter was valid.

It's not a race. I need to always remind myself that. I also need to let a story wait until it's ready. I think I might have been too excited by this piece and let it out too soon. Hopefully, I can get it cleaned up so I can send it to somewhere else.

Michelle offered to beta-read my short story portfolio, which is good.

Right now I really only have Michael and when the mood strikes Lisa. Michael is my oldest and coolest beta-reader, but he’s a new father and really new baby Dyer is much more important than my stories.

And truthfully, I need to get better at self-editing. I can do it for technical writing. I need to learn to be a better editor of fiction.

Heh, I’ve had weird highs and lows today.
